Second Traditional Culture Day

11/19/2020

The 2nd Traditional Culture Day of Zhejiang University International Campus was launched on November 15 of 2020. Traditional Culture Day is one of the core activities in "Education Base on International Promotion of Traditional Culture".

Ouyang Hongwei (Executive vice president of ZJU International Campus), Wang Yufen (Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Secretary of Inspection Commission in ZJU International Campus), and Mr. Chen Hao (member of Xiling Seal Engravers Society and former Dean of Zhang Zongxiang Painting and Calligraphy Institute) attended the event as guests.

At the opening ceremony, Ouyang Hongwei shared his opinion about the importance of culture for human growth. He said: “Culture is a kind of edification to our soul, and is also an indispensable existence in interpersonal communication. Students of ZJU International Campus should be like scholars with intelligence, physique, mentality and quality of blending Chinese and Western, integrating science and culture.”

The performances were splendid, including not only melodious folk music of Nanxiao, Guqin, and Hulusi, but also elegant performance of tea art, as well as dance performances that incorporated elements of ancient dance into modern one. All of them won the admiration of teachers and students present.

After the opening ceremony, the cultural experience activities of "Hainaju" attracted many teachers and students. Interactive activities, copying calligraphy, learning to paint, packaging sachet, engraving seal, and Han costume fitting make teachers and students interested. In the outdoor square, activities such as pitching contests and storytelling were also carried out.

Relying on the "Education Base on International Promotion of Traditional Culture", ZJU International Campus not only continuously educates and nurtures traditional Chinese culture among international students, but also better demonstrates the appeal and influence of traditional culture for domestic students. Students can build cultural self-confidence and move forward in their future.
