On the evening of December 2, the Fifth High Table Dinner was successfully held. High Table Dinner is a traditional event of Residential College in International Campus, which aims to expand students' international horizons and cultivate students' cross-cultural communication skills. Affected by the epidemic, this year's first High Table Dinner was held in late autumn. 52 college tutors and more than 200 students attended this event.
He Lianzhen, Vice President of Zhejiang University and President of ZJU International Campus, gave a welcome speech at the dinner. She warmly welcomed and thanked all the teachers and students present. She emphasized that this year is a challenging year. The COVID-19 has brought us many obstacles, but our joint efforts finally led to today's dinner. Xu Lizhi, President of Residential College, was unable to come due to the impact of the epidemic. He sent cordial greetings to teachers and students in his video and encouraged students to seize the opportunity to actively communicate with guests and mentors.
This dinner invited Professor Wang Xinheng from Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University to deliver a speech, in which he shared his overseas study experience and practical "three rules": to keep accumulation, to learn to communicate and to do as the Romans do. He mentioned that in the international school system, encountering cultural collisions and integration are inevitable. Therefore, everyone should seek common ground while shelving differences, understand and tolerate others.
